Recovery Food

What do you do when life’s got you down and work puts the screws to you? Why, take a few days off and grab a nice traditional Filipino breakfast to help you regroup. If the greasiness alone doesn’t pick you up, knowing that the cholesterol in your arteries rises a few points is bound to make you feel a bit better.
As many of you know, I’ve been a little down lately. I’m getting to the point where it’s better now, but I struggle with it every now and then. Sometimes, things don’t go as planned – or hell, even as expected – but in the end, we find a way to make it work. You put things behind you and realize that in the end, it was probably how it was meant to be.
A momentary lapse
by Ranil on Jun.20, 2008, under Life in Los Angeles, Mindless
The easiest thing to do is to distract yourself. Turn up the music and take a drag off that cigarette and realize this too shall pass – this moment in the episodic drama that is life as it was meant to be. Make a joke. Make them smile. Make them cringe. Be the role that you need to be. Be anywhere but here, anything but you. Realize that this moment is here now and will be gone tomorrow. Realize the difference a moment can make. As the cigarette dwindles down and the warm breeze teases the tired trees know that all this was a distraction and… like all things, this too shall pass.
Stepping out of the dark ages – Voicemail as it should be
by Ranil on Jun.18, 2008, under Technology
My new PPC (the HTC Touch in case you haven’t read) is now sporting two new features. First a crack on the body thanks to shoddy manufacturing. I need to have it replaced under warranty but don’t really want to downgrade the phone from its current settings. Thank you Verizon for creating such a crappy case for a good phone. The other feature – visual voicemail. With technology being the way it is these days why are we still using a crappy voicemail system? If you have the iPhone then you know what visual voicemail is. It lets you pick the messages you want to hear and skip over the rest without having to hear them. Because frankly, some messages you just don’t care to hear. Well, I don’t have an iPhone but I did find a place that offers visual voicemail for the low cost of FREE!
Fathers Day Spanking
by Ranil on Jun.13, 2008, under Life in Los Angeles, Ranting
Could someone please do me a favor and spank the RIAA? Never have I heard of a more despicable company and I read a lot of the consumerist! Has piracy cost music industries revenue? Perhaps, but probably not as much as they claim. Maybe it’s just the lack of good music that’s cost the industry money. The RIAA like Metallica are a bunch of whiny cry babies that are just a tad sue happy. They just don’t get technology. I really hope someone slaps them just to kind of wake them up to the new age we’re in.
Hope for Fire Fighters
by Ranil on Jun.06, 2008, under Life in Los Angeles
Downtown Los Angeles played host again to the annual “Hope for FireFighters” event yesterday. Once a year Firemen and Women invade the business district in downtown L.A and throw a huge block party. The goal here is to raise money for the widows and orphans of Firemen who lost their lives in the line of duty (as well as disabled Firemen who were hurt in the line of duty). Despite warm temperatures, many ventured out – wearing ties and all – to go show support for those that help keep our city safe.
The company I work for hosted its usual booth and competed in the water filled activities that filled the afternoon. It was hot, but fun.
