Something New: Week 5 – Tennis
by Ranil on Aug.07, 2008
Somewhere in Griffith Park a legend was reborn yesterday. This weeks something new finds me brushing off my childhood training and showing to the world, and by the world I mean my old friend Gohar, the awesomeness of my Tennis skills.
It is always a relief when someone comes up with a good idea for me to do implement for my Something New, even better when they choose to join in. With Gohar back in town from San Francisco and taking a mini-retirement her suggestion to play tennis with her was taken with great enthusiasm. So, borrowing a racket from a friend we headed out to Griffith Park to hit around a few balls.
Braving her sore ankle Gohar was able to bear witness to my greatness. Yes, even after all these years I could send that ball sailing. Watch as it gently arcs high into the sky and lands over the fence. Behold the glorious spectacle of hitting way out of the court. Ahh yes, it was a sight to witness.
A few runs later we found ourselves up two new tennis balls, which I promptly knocked out of the court and sent sailing into a tree somewhere. Yes, I must learn a bit of ball control – control your snickering please. All in all it was a fun day. I liked the active aspect of tennis but despite what I say, I must have forgotten everything they taught me all those years ago.
