Third time’s a charm
by Ranil on Oct.27, 2008
The flowers came today. Sitting at my desk they serve as a reminder of how long I’ve been in the circling in the same place. Three years ago I left a “promising” job at Iced Out Gear and began working in Downtown LA. I ditched the cargo pants for slacks and a tie. I switched to v-neck sweaters and topcoats. Did I change? Perhaps. Am I still the same – more so than I realize.
The last three years found me in strange circumstances. Co-workers became friends and friends became acquaintances. I found myself in new places and new experiences. Hard learned lessons and hard earned experiences.
The past three years flew by quite fast. I remember the faces and remember the tours and I remember the feelings. The hardest part about letting go is knowing that an entire timeline you imagined can no longer ever be. No matter where I go in the future I’ll know I won’t shake these memories loose soon. I’ll forget the names, the details but I’ll always remember the faces.
