You can thank New Zealand for two things: the great scenery from the Lord Of The Rings movies and the craptastic overpriced sensation that is Minus 5. The idea is sound – create a vodka bar where the vodka is served as freezing cold as the furniture. The implementation however, that’s something else.

Pocket Universes

Everything I carry around usuallyI’ve gotten used to living a life without keys. For the past few months I haven’t heard the familiar rattling of car and house keys as I make my way through the day but that’s not to say I haven’t had to carry a lot of things in my pocket since leaving the states. Something New: Week 14 – Football In The Land Down Under

How do I succinctly describe Aussie Rules Football. I think the best description would be chaotic. Like many things Australian it seems to be a mishmash of many things coming together to form something that is unique to the land down under. Footy, like many things Australian, is as strange and as loveable as the platypus.

Scrubs Season Finale Picture

After almost 8 years of being part of my life, Scrubs might be over. The season, or series, finale was a poignant look back at all the characters that helped shape my young adult life (possibly explaining my man love for some of my friends) and also gave us a look at what most of our futures will be like. Like with the last episode of Friends I feel once again that 30 minute emptiness where my heart used to be.

The changes in a year

Being unemployed is the pits. Being unemployed and sick is even worse. Don’t get me wrong I don’t mind sitting around doing nothing – outside of applying for jobs and reading an inordinate amount of news – but one eventually misses the routine provided by work. In all the chaos of finding a job and getting set up down under its easy to overlook ones birthday. But this year unlike most years I will be spending my birthday in a place I haven’t had a birthday in for almost 18 years.
