Top 5 Wishlist for October

Zune HD Black

I’m feeling like making this post a clip show. I’ve been working a lot with scaffolding in my code so I figured rather than do all the work, I’d leave it up to others while I fill in the blanks. So I present to you my wish list for October 2009. Feeling generous?

Zune HD

Forget the IPod Touch – this is the Mp3 player I want. With its large touchscreen and independence from the dreaded iTunes I think this will be the next player that will Taylor Swift music collection. I liked the original Zune (which I borrowed from Ian) because of its interface and its default earphones. The next version promises to be leaps and bounds ahead of its time. If only it came as phone.

Stepping out of the dark ages – Voicemail as it should be

My new PPC (the HTC Touch in case you haven’t read) is now sporting two new features. First a crack on the body thanks to shoddy manufacturing. I need to have it replaced under warranty but don’t really want to downgrade the phone from its current settings. Thank you Verizon for creating such a crappy case for a good phone. The other feature – visual voicemail. With technology being the way it is these days why are we still using a crappy voicemail system? If you have the iPhone then you know what visual voicemail is. It lets you pick the messages you want to hear and skip over the rest without having to hear them. Because frankly, some messages you just don’t care to hear. Well, I don’t have an iPhone but I did find a place that offers visual voicemail for the low cost of FREE!

A new gadget in my life

by on May.22, 2008, under Technology

HTC touch

Being a computer geek and gadget freak I can honestly say I am in love with my new phone. I am now the proud owner of a HTC Touch (aka xv6900 for you Verizon fans). As much as I love it now, it only came after a few days of grueling hacking and flashing of the phone. Verizon in all its infinite wisdom disables a lot of the functionality of the phone so that way it forces you to use their service to transfer files and what not. Despite how much Verizon sucks, and how expensive they are, even if I were to leave them I’d just be stuck with another crappy cellphone company. However, thanks to PPC Geeks I’ve been able to upgrade it to use GPS and restore the Bluetooth functionality as it should be and make buying the phone worthwhile. While I am glad to have a phone again, it’s harder to find ways to avoid phone calls because now I actually have a phone that works. Curses!

But it is sleek and fun to use. I know it’s just a phone, but as our lives become more and more technology dependant and our technologies becoming more convergent, it’s good to know that I can send email wherever I get signal. Out of the box, it’s a decent phone, with a little tweaking it can become a great one.
