Something New: Week 15 – Drinks At The Ice Bar
by Ranil on Jun.29, 2009, under Places To Drink In Sydney, Something New
You can thank New Zealand for two things: the great scenery from the Lord Of The Rings movies and the craptastic overpriced sensation that is Minus 5. The idea is sound – create a vodka bar where the vodka is served as freezing cold as the furniture. The implementation however, that’s something else.
Pocket Universes
by Ranil on May.27, 2009, under Reviews
I’ve gotten used to living a life without keys. For the past few months I haven’t heard the familiar rattling of car and house keys as I make my way through the day but that’s not to say I haven’t had to carry a lot of things in my pocket since leaving the states. Like with the last episode of Friends I feel once again that 30 minute emptiness where my heart used to be.
Something New: Week 13 – Birthday Under A Southern Cross
by Ranil on May.07, 2009, under Nostalgia, Points Of Importance, Something New
Being unemployed is the pits. Being unemployed and sick is even worse. Don’t get me wrong I don’t mind sitting around doing nothing – outside of applying for jobs and reading an inordinate amount of news – but one eventually misses the routine provided by work. In all the chaos of finding a job and getting set up down under its easy to overlook ones birthday. But this year unlike most years I will be spending my birthday in a place I haven’t had a birthday in for almost 18 years.
