Election Day 2008
by Ranil on Nov.04, 2008, under Life in Los Angeles, Points Of Importance
The big day is here – Election 2008. Being an Australian citizen I can’t vote, but I strongly urge most of you to. I hope that you’ll vote for McCain. Not because I believe in his views, or think that Sarah Palin is hot, no I want you to vote for him because I don’t want to lose a bet and buy someone dinner. Democrat or Republican remember the real issue here – letting me eat dinner at a fancy restaurant for free!
A new perspective is really more of the old

I spent a lot of the last week or so in a state of fugue. Walking around but not really accepting where I was. It took a few final words and a semblance of an exit plan in order to really begin to make myself function again.
In going through a few old files, my sister came across a binder of mine that contained printouts of the Vacuum Diagrams newsletter I once put out. What funny things we once were. Me and my sultry crew of post-teenage angst writers. Were we good? Were we bad? That’s more for others to decide. I’ll let you decide.

And so it begins. With a burgeoning amount of time on my hands and a recent spat of boredom/frustration I have decided that it is time to revisit my bucket list. Of all the things on there, I think it is time I took some serious time to try and learn a new languages – 2 in fact. Actually, they are languages I have had some experience with but am far from fluent with. With my new found sense of free time and an increased need to desperately do something I have decided that Spanish and Tagalog are the two languages I need to focus on.
Firstly, why Spanish? Well, I live in a city that is has a very large majority of Spanish speaking peoples. Why not learn the language? As for Tagalog, I think that when the time comes for me to visit the home of my parents I should be able to at least speak the common language, if not the dialect.
Yes, this is a method I am formulating in order to keep me occupied from certain things, but I am my best when I am learning and I am currently out of books to read. I think karma kicked my ass and I’m paying for things I’ve done in the past. But now, I must learn to better myself and learn once again to ignore the things that bother me. A little house cleaning if you will.
So to that, me gusto un vida facil. Walang problemas at walang drama.
You Said 8, But You Meant 3 Tour
by Ranil on Apr.22, 2008, under Tours
Ahh.. Another roadtrip in the books. Last weekend my humble group of friends decided to go to Yosemite National Park. Many were invited, few came. People said they were going to leave at 8 am, but didn’t actually end up leaving till 3 pm. We lost Wes, but he found us. We ran into a few deer, but no bears. Monopoly was played, drinking was had, and cigarettes – we had a few.
All in all, it was a good trip. Very relaxing and the cabin was spectacular. Nestled deep in Yosemite National Park it was amazing to be surrounded by trees and a running brook all the while enjoying the comforts of a cabin. Camping would’ve been a good way to go, but we took this route instead. Imagine being able to BBQ while being surrounded by nature. It was good fun.
