The Voyage Home

by Ranil on Nov.05, 2009, under Life in Australia, Ranting

How does life change when you’re not around? It’s a thought i’ve come to think about lately. How do people change and move on when you’re not looking? Because the world doesn’t stop simply because you want it to. The faces they shift and sway with the passage of time and the hearts that you once captured are no longer yours to hold.

How does life change when you’re not around? Objects and places change. People aren’t necessarily the people you left behind. But can there be that single thread that you hope once connected you?. Can your friends still be the friends that you left behind in an airport terminal? Will you still remember the quirks and the nuances of the people that you once shared your life with?

Something New: Week 16 – A New Commute

Someone once pointed out that going to work wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. I can tell you though I’ll take lying on a beach somewhere and sipping on a cold beer over hopping on a train to North Sydney any day. After my many months of travelling, drinking, sleeping in, and watching my bank account do crazy roller coaster ups and downs I head back to the working force. Scrubs Season Finale Picture

After almost 8 years of being part of my life, Scrubs might be over. The season, or series, finale was a poignant look back at all the characters that helped shape my young adult life (possibly explaining my man love for some of my friends) and also gave us a look at what most of our futures will be like. Like with the last episode of Friends I feel once again that 30 minute emptiness where my heart used to be.

Company Party 2008

by Ranil on Dec.12, 2008, under Life in Los Angeles, Work

Posing in our suits.. and Judy in her dress

With the holidays around the corner I made my way to the Marriot hotel to celebrate my companies annual christmas party. This is my last Christmas party with my company and so I decided to make the most of this event to mingle and talk to all my coworkers who made my time at the company worthwhile. The highlight of the day proved to be the after party drinks that I had with a few co-workers at Nick and Stef’s.

New from the Old

by Ranil on Nov.24, 2008, under Nostalgia

It’s fun reconnecting. After getting over the initial shock at having not seen someone in a while you can’t help but smile as you talk and catch up on the events that transpired in days gone by. Sometimes you share old stories and ponder what old acquaintances are up to. Sometimes you share new stories of the joys and pain of life. Either way it’s a chance to become a friend with someone you thought you had lost a long time ago.
