The Dicks, Chicks, Parachutes, and a Zipline Tour
by Ranil on Dec.01, 2008, under Something New, Tours
What makes a man give up a perfectly good Thanksgiving Dinner with family and friends? The chance at adventure and the opportunity to reach out and kiss the sky! It started off with an article about the kids at google installing a zipline. A few hours later and a dozen phonecalls away – the beginnings of a roadtrip to Northern California to ride the Zipline into infamy. A few days later the notion of Sky Diving fell into place. With that our roadtrip was born.
An Ode To Boredom
by Ranil on Jul.14, 2008, under Life in Los Angeles
Boredom in the wrong hands can be a very dangerous thing. It may lead you to experience dizziness and feelings of inadequacy, not to mention a stupid affinity to punch immovable objects. It can cause constant refreshings of both Myspace and Facebook profiles looking for updates. It may also cause one to create a Plurk account and flood it with random musings of obscenity and histrionics. It can also be contagious, such as convincing your sister and your friend to also create Plurk accounts and fill it with obscenity and what not. Yes my friend, boredom is a dangerous thing. Fueled by caffeine it can stretch long into the night, way past a normal bed time.
You Said 8, But You Meant 3 Tour
by Ranil on Apr.22, 2008, under Tours
Ahh.. Another roadtrip in the books. Last weekend my humble group of friends decided to go to Yosemite National Park. Many were invited, few came. People said they were going to leave at 8 am, but didn’t actually end up leaving till 3 pm. We lost Wes, but he found us. We ran into a few deer, but no bears. Monopoly was played, drinking was had, and cigarettes – we had a few.
All in all, it was a good trip. Very relaxing and the cabin was spectacular. Nestled deep in Yosemite National Park it was amazing to be surrounded by trees and a running brook all the while enjoying the comforts of a cabin. Camping would’ve been a good way to go, but we took this route instead. Imagine being able to BBQ while being surrounded by nature. It was good fun.

There’s Snow In Arizona?
by Ranil on Mar.18, 2008, under Nostalgia, Tours
A roadtrip is a nice way to get away from it all for a period of time. Last week a friend of mine, Arman, got into USC School of Accounting and decided it would be a good time to take a roadtrip. Our plan of escape, hop in his car and head east towards Arizona. Our visit included a visit to meteor crater and a visit to Arizona’s Petrified Wood Forrest.
I am pleased to say that his car thoroughly smelled like cigarettes after the trip and that the biggest surprise to us that there was snow in Arizona – who knew? I thought Arizona was a desolate wasteland that the rest of the country had forgotten. I was mistaken. So along with the Grand Canyon, Arizona actually has something worth visiting, even if the way there was plagued with flat barren land.
Unfortunately for us, Arizona was in the middle of a cold spell and cold, strong, gusty winds were present the entire trip. 1234 miles later and we’re back in LA and back to the grind. Whoo Hoo. To those who didn’t go, be glad – if the wind didn’t get you, our farts would have.
The roadtrip is a favorite experience of mine. To me, the journey is sometimes more important than the destination. It gives people a chance to bond all the while experiencing America at it’s finest. I love stopping at rest stops along the way and comparing them to other rest area’s that I’ve been to. I love stocking up on beef jerky and drinking energy drinks to keep me awake as I drive. While this roadtrip was nowhere near as long or as spectacular as my “Sponge Bob Visits America” roadtrip, I must say it was still quite enjoyable. Here’s to seeing you on the next roadtrip…
